Coombabah Landscape Makeover

Grotec’s Landscape Design team were employed by homeowners Glenn and Patsy to assist them with the landscape design planning for the front courtyard renovation of their property which was ripe and ready for updating. But What to Do?

Glenn and Patsy wanted to create a front entry that was coastal, classy and welcomed everyone into their home . It would also be a place for the family and in particular grandchildren to gather and enjoy.

The Design brief included removing all existing foliage and creating a raised garden bed where screening, enclosure and beauty could be created. Big solid charcoal blocks were selected and laid to a height of around 600mm high and a new benchseat was installed into the wall, creating a spot to sit and enjoy the space. A Tropical planting theme including franjipanis, heliconia’s, hibiscus, ixoras, cordylines and nandina’s were chosen and at just on 12 months old this garden is thriving with all the goodness added to the soil initially and through the love Glenn and Patsy give to these plants in this space.

Next was the design and installation of a pergola to create protection from the sun and rain alongside the residence. After considering a number of options, the clients chose a sunglzed roof and powder coated alluminium structure which requires minimal maintenance and perfectly blended with the overall modern, coastal theme they desired to create.

The old exposed aggregate path to the front door had to go and so a wider path around the perimeter of this courtyard was created and tiled, allowing easier access to the front door and gardens. Stone facing was added to a boring old front entry column and screens and cladding were added to add texture, colour and interest to the overall space.
